Bernice Ende travels through Alliance Monday on Honor, a 10-year-old thoroughbred, while her dog Claire rides on Essie Pearl, a six-year-old Norwegian Fjord. Ende said she is riding to carry on the tradition of the long rider, a representation of freedom. She said she is also encouraging the continuation of small towns and small town traditions, and enjoyed the historical architecture in the Alliance downtown.
