The 2026 election year is well underway, with several people already filing for candidacy for offices in Box Butte County.
With the filing deadline for incumbents fast approaching, already there have been many who have filed, but the window remains open. February 17 is the last day for incumbents to file for election. The nonincumbent deadline falls shortly thereafter on March 2.
The following are the people who have filed for candidacy in Box Butte County as of press time:
Martie Burke, Republican, has filed for County Clerk.
Valery Bell, Republican, has filed for County Treasurer.
Larry Lee Scott Bolinger (nonincumbent) has filed for a four-year term on the Alliance City Council.
Justin Ansley has filed for the Hemingford School Board District 10 (Ward B).
Blanche Randolph has filed for the Hemingford School Board District 10 (Ward C).
Michael Sautter, Republican, has filed for County Commissioner.
Scott Yates has filed for a six-month term on the Alliance City Council, and a four-year term on the Alliance City Council.
Michelle Robinson, Republican, has filed for County Assessor.
Randall Hitchcock has filed for a six-month term on the Alliance City Council, and a four-year term on the Alliance City Council.
Brett Ditsch, Republican, has filed for County Commissioner.
Timothy Richey has filed for the Alliance School Board District 6.
Edison Red Nest III has filed for the Alliance School Board District 6.
Ryan M. Dannar, Republican, has filed for Sheriff.
Marissa Curtiss, Republican, has filed for County Attorney.
Molly Ridgeway (nonincumbent), Republican, has filed for County Clerk of the District Court.
Micki Votruba has filed for the Hemingford School Board District 10 (Ward A).
Tearza Mashburn has filed for a four-year term on the Alliance City Council.
Kevin Horn, who was among the first to file for candidacy, running for County Clerk of the District Court, has withdrawn his candidacy.
The primary election is set for May 12, 2026.
