23 Killed in Traffic Crashes in June

During the month of June 2022, twenty-three people were killed in traffic crashes

on Nebraska roadways, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.

  • These 23 fatalities occurred in 20 fatal crashes.

  • Ten of the twenty vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, six were using seatbelts, and four had seatbelt usage marked as unknown.

  • Fifteen of the fatalities were in rural locations (The Federal Highway Administration definition for urban is an area with a population of 5,000 or more).

  • There were four fatalities on the interstate, seven on other highways, and twelve on local roads.

  • Three of the fatalities were motorcyclists.

  • Three of the fatalities involved a train.

  • One of the fatalities was driving an ATV.

  • There were 29 fatalities in June of 2021.

  • Only 35 of the 106 vehicle occupants killed during 2022 were using seatbelts.
