Game #2 played Saturday, May 24 in Wyoming pitted the Alliance legion Navy club baseball squad against the Cats from Douglas. Three tallies in their final at bat was just enough as the Peltz Co defeated the Cats 3 to 2. With the victory, the Spartans go to 7 and 7 on the year. Alliance also has a 1 to 1 tie on their season. The ball game went four innings. Earlier in the day, Alliance downed Cheyenne to start the doubleheader. Starting pitcher Fletcher Moseman give up just one hit while striking out four Cats. On offense, the Peltz Co ended with 4 hits.
A pair of walks in the top of the first inning gave the Spartans hope. But both runners were left on the base paths and the game went to the home half of the contest. Douglas also failed to score in their first attempt. Inning 2 had both teams go down in order. Moseman would record a strikeout in the Douglas try in the inning. More zeroes were then posted in the third. Alliance would get hits from Kyler Hamels and Casyn Nelson but both Spartans were stranded. The Cats went 1-2-3 in the home half as the battle went to the fourth tied at 0.
Both teams got on the scoreboard in their final at bat in the fourth. Alliance’s Israel Garcia and Logan Freiberger were struck by pitches to began the rally. Dixon Bair was next and his sac bunt moved the runners to scoring position. A Cat passed ball plated the game’s first tally. From there, the Peltz Co went up by two thanks to an RBI double by Miguel Galvan. The frame ended with a run scoring knock by Spartan Teagan O’Gorman. Down 3 to 0, Douglas made one last push. The Cats used a single, a walk, and a couple of Alliance errors to draw within one but it wasn’t enough. Moseman would get 2 k’s in the inning and Alliance went for the 3 to 2 win.
