Public Works:

• 18th and Colorado well back in service after media and valve change.

• Crack sealing and pothole repairs are underway, as is gravel road and alley maintenance.

• NDOR Project – 3rd St. overlay nearing completion.

• Transit 714 riders this week.

• Storm sewer inlet cleaning underway.

• Landfill 257 tons of refuse this week.

Police Admin:

• FBI (JTTF) Joint Terrorism Task Force meeting.

• FBI artificial intelligence best practices meeting.

• South Central 911 meeting.

• Natal officer mental health meeting.

• 5ire Product sequence meeting.

• Mobile Mental Health response in conjunction with Region 1 was implemented.

• Trusted Driver – Discussing adding an interface to allow for special notifications such as children with special needs.

• Datalytics – Data approval process is underway. Follow-up meeting is scheduled next week.

• MOCIC – data push sample was sent.

• Know your force – So far the department is maintaining a 5 out of 5 average rating with several additional surveys submitted this week.

• Quadrant App – This App has been several months in the making and allows the public to turn their phone into a body cam and report their perspective of a police contact. In testing phase.

• 911 eye – Has some glitches that are being worked out to increase software stability. Still in testing.

• PAARI – Meeting for free clinician support to people suffering from chemical addiction.

• Lights On – More coupons ordered and national meeting next week in Minneapolis with national leaders regarding the program.

Police Communications/Intelligence:

• Coordinated 579 calls for service.

• Completed 9 report requests.

Police Operations:

• 10 Child Welfare Investigations.

• 1 DUI, 27 Traffic Stops.

• 6 accidents.

• 1 K9 deployments.

• 186 Building Checks.

• 40 Community Contacts/Business Checks.

• 12 Active Investigations.

Animal Control:

• 23 Animal Calls.

• 3 Dog Impounds. 1 dog currently in the shelter.

• 2 Cat Impounds. 2 cats currently in the shelter.

Code Enforcement:

• 8 Code enforcement issues.

Notable Service:

• Male threatening people with a knife. Was ultimately taken into custody with no use of force.

• Individual contributing to several hit and run accidents was taken into custody for DUI.

HR:

• The City is pleased to announce our newest employee, Curtis Ward, as a part-time Transit Driver. Welcome, Curtis!

• HR is working with departments to conduct interviews for several open positions and complete pre-employment conditions for job offers.

• Preparing for Seasonal Hiring “Signing Day” with Pool and Parks staff for the 2022 season.

• Applications are still being accepted for the Public Works and Electric departments’ seasonal positions with open interviews planned for Tuesday, May 10th at 5:00p.m. at the Knight Museum. Those wishing to apply can submit an application and visit with department representatives.

• HR continues to accept applications for Part-Time Account Clerk, Police Officer, Fire Apparatus Engineer/EMT, Public Safety Dispatcher, Part-time Transit Driver, Finance Director, as well as Seasonal Positions.

Electric:

• Finished the removal of the 6th and Flack traffic signal.

• Performed the monthly required test operation of one generator for two hours on Tuesday.

• Assisted the Employee Activity Committee with hosing the employee luncheon on Wednesday.

• Assisted in the installation of new DC control batteries in Cody substation.

• Repaired/replaced numerous streetlights.

• Continue to work on the three phase rebuild project east of HWY 385 across from Schiff feedlot.

Fire:

• FD Staff participated in annual ARFF live-fire training at the North Platte Regional Airport on Monday and Tuesday.

• Chief attended the Pine Ridge Mutual Aid meeting in Hay Springs Wednesday night.

• Implementation with FlowMSP is continuing.

• Staff assisted Hemingford Schools with teaching CPR to the freshman class.

Airport:

• Received approval from FAA and NDOT on the bid award for the taxiway/apron project.

• Staff attended the required live-burn training in North Platte.

• Submitted update to the airport certification manual and the emergency plan; work continues on the security plan.

• Staff spent time working prairie dogs, switching over from winter equipment to summer equipment, and painting (non-airfield) has begun.

• Created a punch list of items in and around the terminal for touch up and/or repairs.

• Submitted documents on debt service payment for the ARPA (Covid) grant.

• FAA inspection will take place next month so all the special pre-inspections and double checking items are starting to take place.

BBDC:

• Assisted with 5th Grade Career Day at Grandview Elementary.

• Led the Village of Hemingford Trustees through a Strategic Plan update.

• Participating in the Rural Fellows Pre-Academy course as we prepare to host 3 Interns starting May 24.

• BBDC Office closed Tuesday-Friday next week to attend the NEDA Annual Conference in Valentine.

Parks:

• Completed replacement of the pillars on the walking bridge adjacent to the Pillars in the Park.
