The Kiddie Kampus hosted an end of the year picnic combined with a Mother’s Day celebration for families and students on Cinco de Mayo, where there were games, tacos and family fun.
Students got to come to school with their families, where the air was filled with laughter while families bonded over a meal and outside activities. Toddler classroom teacher Shawna Rischling greeted parents and shared conversations with family members who attended the event.
“Families really like it. I’ve had several parents say they don’t have a lot of friends. So, they like to do things like this to meet new people and get to know the parents of some of the kids that their kids go to school with,” said Rischling.
However, all good things must come to an end, but not before the families were greeted by the Children and Youth Services Librarian Cynthia Horn along with Ollie the Octupus on their way out. Horn handed out flyers for the summer reading event called Oceans of Possibilities.
“Our summer reading program is an annual event nationally and then each year the theme is determined nationally as well. This year’s theme is Oceans of Possibilities. We’re super excited about the possibilities,” said Horn.
The Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program registration begins on Monday, May 16, and anytime during the program, you can sign up at the public library. The program starts on May 23, and runs through June 30. The program is open to everyone whether you are a preschooler, middle schooler, high schooler or an adult.
