Public Works:
• Jetting of sewers is underway.
• Pot hole repair underway.
• Assisted with dirt work for the fire department training facility.
• Sewer lake valve work underway.
• Transit 614 riders this week.
• Landfill 426 tons of refuse this week.
Electric:
• Sunday evening the high winds north of town upset a center pivot, throwing it into our power lines which resulting in breaking off 4 poles. As a result, we had an unexpected rebuild project on CR 60 north of Knox Road.
• Completed the rebuild project on CR 63 south of Sarpy Road.
• Started the removal/replacement of reject poles determined by pole inspection contractor.
• Energized and tested new tennis court lights. They work!
• Performed various maintenance repairs on irrigation well banks.
• Repaired/replaced several streetlights.
Airport:
• Focused on FAA inspection, which are scheduled for next week.
Fire:
• Implementation of FlowMSP almost complete.
• Chief participated in the Nebraska Volunteer Firefighter’s Association Recruitment and Retention Committee meeting.
• Preparation for the delivery of the Fire Training Facility continues. Anticipated delivery is
Tuesday, June 28.
Museum:
• Hosted a class reunion and several meetings this week.
• Final install on our new doors was completed and they look nice.
• We hosted the Alliance Police Department for a 5-day training.
• We catered the Class of 1962 evening meal for 47 class members and guests.
• We catered the monthly Community meeting.
• We had a tour for 35 children from a day care in Gering.
• Our new summer displays are up in the foyer with vintage toys. The theater has part of our classic Fisher-Price collection. The other theater display is local radio personality, Jason Wentworth’s PEZ dispenser collection. This is an interesting look at toys old and new and how collections can become interesting hobbies.
• We are looking for Volunteers that might be interested in helping out in our Heritage Room with some filing and rearranging. Could be right up someone’s alley?! Call Becci 762-2384 or stop by and see us.
Golf:
• Preparing to host the Volunteer FD Tournament this weekend.
• Junior golf continued and has been extremely successful.
• Rounds played continue to be up compared to last spring.
Parks/Cemetery:
• Mowed all the parks once and the ballfields twice.
• Mowed an area at Carhenge for an upcoming celebration.
• Repaired the culverts at west Laing.
• Vacuumed the fountain, repaired the backwash system, and added chemicals.
• Continued working on thinning the trees and brush in the creek drainage system.
• Met multiple times with the spray contractor to discuss where to spray and give directions.
• Prepared for a funeral to be held Saturday.
• Finished trimming at the cemetery. Mowed the new section at the cemetery, seasonal workers got the entire old section mowed.
• Mowed the back side of the pool for upcoming pool meet.
• Vacuumed outside the pool fence.
• Fertilized the new sod at the softball complex.
Library:
• Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday Aquatic Coding was held for kids with our Summer Reading theme as the focus.
• On Tuesday an Adult Ocean themed craft session was held. Participants made a nautical lantern of frosted glass.
• On Wednesday the Riverside Zoo Discovery Center visited the library!
• Thursday a program was held in which the kids made an aquatic jar craft.
• The adult patrons have been enjoying the “Punch Card” entry program for weekly prizes to our local businesses.
• Summer reading this year has been full of activities! Hats off to the library staff who make this an exciting time for our patrons of all ages!
Pool:
• Conducted Level 1 and 4 swim lessons this week.
• Was closed on Tuesday due to low temperatures and the need to vacuum the pool following the wind storm.
• Attendance numbers continue to be good especially as the weather warms up.
• Pool managers continue to get experience in their new position.
HR:
• Onboarding for New employee: Brittany Miller, Public Safety Dispatcher. Welcome, Brittany!
• Conducting interviews and pre-employment screenings for open positions pending new hires.
• Hosted monthly WNHRA meeting with regional HR leaders.
• Assisting with employee requests and maintaining compliance with FMLA and benefits administration.
• Human Resources continues to accept applications for City Treasurer, Utility Office Manager, Public Safety Dispatchers, Fire Apparatus Engineer/EMT, Police Officer and Public Transit Driver.
Police Admin:
• SHIELD intelligence meeting.
• CALEA Meeting.
• Datalytics Dashboard meeting and live on website.
• Quadrant review all test videos are done.
• Firewall issues fixed with press log, ODMAP, MOCIC, and Know Your Force.
Police Communications/Intelligence:
• Coordinated 692 calls for service.
• Completed 2 report requests.

• 4 Child Welfare Investigations.
• 1 DUI, 21 Traffic Stops.
