Police Administration:

• Central Square, University of Nebraska Community Policing Data Analysis Meeting, ABLE Duty to Intervene Program Follow Up Meeting, Datalytics Meeting.

• South Central 911, 5ire Project Meeting, Know Your Force Data for overdose meeting, WING Drug Task Force Meeting, SUG Meeting.

Police Communications/Intelligence:

• Coordinated 579 calls for service.

• Completed 19 report requests.

• 0 firearms permit issued.

Police Operations:

• 4 Child Welfare Investigations.

• 0 DUI, 17 Traffic Stops.

• 8 accidents 5 were in private parking lots.

• 0 K9 deployments.

• 50 Building Checks.

• 29 Community Contacts/Business Checks.

• 16 Vacation House Checks.

• 24 Active Investigations.

Animal Control:

• 28 Animal Calls.

• 2 Dog Impounds. 2 dogs currently in the shelter.

• 1 Cat Impounds. 1 cats currently in the shelter.

Code Enforcement:

• 32 Code enforcement issues.

Notable Service:

• Heritage Days.

• Drug Bust.

• Elkhorn Meeting.

• KYF Rating 91.8% Positive.

Fire:

• Completed on-site Public Protection Classification Survey with ISO representatives.

• Prepared for the two-day training this weekend on our new FTS training facility. This training is put on by Fire Training Structures representatives.

Electric:

• Continue to work on the alley rebuild project 14th to 16th street west of High School.

• Controlling irrigation load all week.

• Started the installation of the bases for new streetlights on the west side of the 100 block of Box Butte Avenue.

• Removed the temporary power rack used by the carnival workers’ trailers.

• Performed maintenance/repair on some irrigation well transformer banks.

• Performed inspections on substations.

Human Resources:

• Finalized and published Employee educational video for City benefits to be used for new hires as well as current employees.

• Extended conditional offers for new hires starting in July and August.

• We welcome to the City our new hires for July: Elizabeth Bonds-Dispatcher; Ernest DeGunia-Water/Sewer Maintenance; Jonathan Houser-Transit.

• Processing reports for Worker’s Compensation records and assisting employees with benefits enrollment and requests.

Community Development:

• Attended the Nebraska Planning and Zoning Administration Board meeting finalizing the details for the Fall State Conference.

• July 12th Planning Commission Meeting – determined the redevelopment plan submitted for the retail space and apartments proposed south of Runza (west of the Holiday Inn) met the requirements of the Comprehensive Plan and recommended its approval.

• The August 12th Planning Commission meeting will have a Conditional Use Permit application for a large residential solar photovoltaic system installation to be located at 12th and Platte.

• Mapped out the changes made to the wastewater application system due to the replacement of a failed valve.

• No July Board of Adjustment Meeting.

Golf:

• An extremely successful year of junior golf wrapped up this week.

• Preparing for the Lucky Strokes tournament this weekend.

• Met with the Golf Course Advisory board and course staff regarding the addition of a practice bunker.

Library:

• The library staff has been busy organizing and cataloging a wide variety of paper punch tools for scrapbooking that will soon be available for checkout by our patrons.

• Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn has been busy with after summer reading cleaning, updating, and organizing the youth collection. She also has been busy creating activity bags for children.

• Adult Services Librarian Emily Nelson is ending the Punch Card Contest this week. We have had over 60 patrons turn in their filled punch cards. Special thanks to the Alliance Public Library Foundation for providing the prizes for this contest!

• We are looking at some new after school activities for young people to begin this fall. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please share them! We are always looking for fun activities to keep kids busy.

Parks:

• Cleaned up Downtown daily during Heritage Days and put picnic tables and benches back into the parks after it was over.

• Assisted with set up and tear down of Sunday in the Park.

• Mowed and trimmed park areas and sport fields as necessary.

• Continued working on thinning trees and brush at the tennis courts.

• Worked on cleaning out the end of the culverts at 18th and Box Butte.

• Assisted the water department with cleaning the drainage ditch at Laing Lake.

• Swept Bird House and removed graffiti and painted before Sunday in the Park.

• Deep cleaned and mopped the Shelter House.

• Repaired an irrigation break by Old swimming pool parking lot.

• Located valves at old tennis courts to allow us to get estimates on replacing lines.

• Rebuilding backflow preventer at Knight Park.

• Funeral Thursday.

• Trimmed at the cemetery.

• Scraped decks and cleaned mowers.

• Mowed around the trail out by the Arc.

• Sprayed the East and West Welcome signs to kill weeds.

Museum:

• Hosted the monthly community meeting.

• Rates of visitors to the community continue to be steady.

• Started making custom mugs for the gift shop utilizing equipment purchased by the Museum Partners.

• Worked on database development and archiving photos and documents into research files.

Finance:

• Sales tax receipts for May were up slightly (1.15%) over the previous year at $196,254.
