On August 4, 2022, at 5:12 pm, the Scottsbluff Police Department was dispatched to 401 South Beltline (West) regarding a shooting that had just occurred.
Upon arrival, officers found two males in the parking lot. One male, Alexander J. Maldonado (age 35 of Gering, NE) was taken into custody. The other male, identified as Martin A. Maldonado Jr. (age 34 of Scottsbluff, NE), had suffered a single gun shot to his abdomen. Martin Maldonado Jr. was transported by ambulance to Regional West Medical Center for treatment.
Alexander J. Maldonado was subsequently arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony, Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Protection Order Violation, and Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits. Alexander J. Maldonado was transported to the Scotts Bluff County Jail.
