Scottsbluff Schools Enter Secure Status

The Scottsbluff Police Department received a report of two suspicious males in the area to the west of Scottsbluff High School At approximately 12:06 p.m. Monday afternoon. The two reports suggested that one of the males may be armed with a handgun.

Officers searched the area for more than two hours while the school district placed several of the schools north of 20th Street into a secure status.

Several surveillance cameras in the area were reviewed and several individuals were contacted. None of the subjects contacted were identified as the subjects of the reports made to the police department. None of the individuals contacted were found to be in possession of firearm(s).

The police department would like to encourage the public to immediately report suspicious activities such as this by calling 911 to allow for a more immediate response to the area.

The police department communicated with the school district at approximately 2 p.m. to pass along that no evidence of subjects in or around the schools with firearms were located in the searches. If any other motorists or pedestrians were in the area and observed suspicious subjects please contact the police department.
