Susan Jane Hofmann Shone Obituary

On Tuesday, January 24th, 2023 Susan Jane Hofmann Shone, passed away at the age of seventy-four. She was born the youngest of 9 children to Clifford and Faye Hofmann (née Gebhart). Born in Alliance, Nebraska, Susan spent many years making friends and graduated from Alliance High School in 1967. She moved to Las Vegas in 1969 where she met Daniel Shone. They married in 1969 and moved to Millville, New Jersey in 1970. While there, she raised her two children. She put herself through nursing school, graduating as valedictorian of her class in Licensed Practical Nursing. Wanting to be closer to family, she moved back to Las Vegas in 1986. Susan quickly changed careers and became a Blackjack Dealer. Susan worked at The Mirage, then moved to become one of the first employees onboarded to the Bellagio. She continued her dealing career for over 30-years before retiring in 2019 to pursue her other full-time hobby, thrifting.

Susan was vivacious and beloved by so many. She had the ability to touch people in a special way all throughout her life. She accumulated many great friends whom she kept close and cherished.

Susan was best known for her lively demeanor, her love of food, maintaining her beautiful garden, and her love for a good deal. There was no yard sale safe from Susie’s bargaining abilities. She was always quick-witted, had fierce determination, and a very generous spirit. Susan is survived by her sister Jerri Nyffler (née Hofmann), her daughter, Stacie (Lew Werkheiser) Shone, her son, Michael (Jeri) Shone, and grandson Thomas (Amanda) White, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her mother and father, four brothers, and three sisters: Dona Lickliter, Herb Hofmann, Richard Hofmann, Zoe Faber, Norma Hennings, Monte Hofmann, and Bill Hofmann. Her memorial service was in Las Vegas on February 11th, 2023 and was well attended by family and friends both near and far.
