Alliance Museums, Senior Center Provide Amenities to Community

The Alliance Museum staff works hard to preserve and share the history of Alliance and the Nebraska Panhandle for Alliance citizens and visitors. Thanks to the tax dollars of our residents, they offer a variety of services to the community for free. The Knight Museum and Sandhills Center offers catering and room rentals for a minimal fee and house a public conference room free to use during business hours. This innovative historical Museum displays an impressive collection for visitors be immersed in while getting a glimpse of how life was lived by the people who settled in the Nebraska Sandhills. The Museums displays were curated by former Smithsonian Preservationists. The Heritage room is famous for its broad range of genealogy research and vast knowledge held within their database. They often host events for the public to attend, providing activities for everyone. The Sallows Military Museum’s stated purpose is to “Remember, Honor, and Educate”, and is dedicated to the men and women who served our country in time of conflict. This unique quality provides a view of our nation’s conflicts and sacrifice through the eyes of those men and women.

The City of Alliance Senior Center includes the Box Butte County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), the Nutrition Site, and also hosts the Service Coordinator for the Nebraska Aging Office. The Nutrition Site provides meals, including home delivery for seniors 60 years of age and over for a minimal fee and currently feeds roughly 60 seniors daily. The Center is valuable resource that offers a plethora of information and services that benefit the community. The Center hosts many activities including weekly card parties, book club, coffee time and more. Their doors are always open and welcome you to join.
