Alliance Public Library Offers Range of Services

Construction on the Alliance Learning Center began in 1997, and now houses the Western Nebraska Community College and the Alliance Public Library. Managed by Library Director Stephanie O’Connor with the help of the Children’s Librarian, Adult Services Librarian, Technical Services Librarian, two Library Clerks and three Library Pages, the library is tax funded and offers patrons numerous services for little to no cost while maintaining an immense collection of books of all genres.

The Library offers a wide range of services and programs including the Annual Summer Reading Program which encourages young patrons to engage in reading by providing prizes for meeting reading goals. Not to be outdone, there are Youth and Adult Book clubs, LEGO Club, Story time, Crafting Events and many more. Internet is made available free of charge.

The Library recently implemented their online catalog for clients to access their account information, view their checkout history, reserves, and see their full catalog, etc. The online catalog can be found at www.alliancelibrary.org/catalog. Staff is eager to promote “Libby” – an app that consumers can utilize to access digital magazines, books and audio books. For more information, contact the Technical Services Librarian, Emily Nelson.

Bookmobile services are available for homebound patrons and organizations such as daycares, preschools and retirement facilities. The Library offers resources to help individuals with: technology, finding jobs, building job skills, government resources, starting businesses, parenting and technology, health and wellness, financial planning, online banking and much, much more.

Adult Services Librarian, Nalani Stewart is excited to announce the first annual Farmer’s Market, which will begin on Thursday, August 3. Please contact Nalani if you are interested in becoming a vendor.

Library staff is determined to ensure all patrons have a great experience while visiting the Library. They work hard to create new and innovative programs to support visitor needs. Stop in and see what all they have for you!
