Motorcycle vs. Car Crash Results in Fatality

On Aug. 19 at approximately 9:42 p.m, Scottsbluff Police were dispatched to a motorcycle accident at the intersection of 23rd ST and Broadway.

The investigation found that a white 2008 Mazda driven by Angelina Palomo, a 23 year old female of Scottsblulff, and an orange 2010 Honda CBR1000 driven by Levi Queen, a 43 year old male of Loveland, Colo. were involved in the accident. It was found that the Honda was north bound in the 2200 block of Broadway and the Mazda was south bound in the 2300 block of Broadway.

The Mazda made a left turn at the intersection of 23rd ST and Broadway. The Honda and Mazda impacted within the intersection of 23rd ST and Broadway. Queen was transported to Regional West Medical Center by Valley Ambulance. Queen succumbed to his injuries caused in the accident and next of kin was notified.

Witnesses to the accident reported the Honda was traveling at an estimated speed of over 60 mph in the 30 mph zone at the time of impact. Palomo was issued a citation for Driving Under Suspension. Scotts Bluff Sheriff’s Department was requested for accident reconstruction.

Speed and helmet use are being further investigated as factors in the accident. Broadway between 24th ST and 22nd ST was closed for approximately 4 hours while the investigation was conducted. Both vehicles are total losses. Scotts Bluff Sheriff’s Department, Valley Ambulance, and Scottsbluff Fire Department assisted in the call.
