SPD Announces Results of Speed Enforcement

The Scottsbluff Police Department participated in a speed enforcement grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office from June 9 to August 5, 2023 for Broadway and 27th Street every Friday and Saturday. This grant allowed for two extra officers to patrol this area for speed and any other traffic violations every day of the grant. Officers worked a total of 116 hours of overtime.

This enforcement effort resulted in the following;

Speeding citations 20, Arrests for Driving Under the Influence 3, Felony Arrests 1, Fugitives Apprehended 8, Minor In Possession citations 15, Open Container citations 6, Seat Belt citations 4, Child Passenger Safety Restraint citations 1, No Valid Registration 19, No Insurance 7, No License 10, Driving Under Suspension 8, Failure to Yield 2, Traffic Light 1, Stop Sign 4, Failure to Display 2 Plates 1, Marijuana Possession 1, Paraphernalia 3, No Motorcycle Endorsement 1, Leaving the Scene 1, Learner’s Permit Violation 1, Drug Possession 1, Racing 1.

A total of 118 citations were issued and 118 contacts were made during this period.

Although this grant is over, the Scottsbluff Police Department will continue to actively enforce traffic laws in Scottsbluff and Terrytown.
