Paced by a 10 catch 191 yard and 3 touchdown performance by senior receiver Tristen Timbers the Alliance Bulldogs improved to 2 and 1 on the year with a 58 to 34 win Friday in a ball game played at Bulldog stadium. Alliance pulled away in the fourth quarter, guests outscoring the 22 to 6 for the victory. Senior quarterback Landon Crowe was also impressive in the contest. The Bulldog signal caller threw for 5 scores and ran for one.
A blocked punt by the visitors started the action in the opening minutes of the game. It would take just one play for the Badgers to cash in on the miscue, scoring of a 4 yard touchdown run. With 11:06 in the first period, Valentine led 8 to 0. Alliance answered with a nice series which ended with a 28 yard touchdown strike from Crowe to Jonah Amill. The point after was no good and with 7:57 left in the period Valentine held the lead at 8 to 6. Right before the conclusion of the opening period, it was the guests scoring again. A ten yard Badger rushing touchdown pushed their advantage to 14 to 6 after the opening 12 minutes. The Alliance defense would stiffen in quarter 2. Big tackles for loss by Matthew Moomey and Jett Herian kept AHS close. A fumble recovery by Cole Stoike stopped a Valentine drive midway through the second quarter. The Alliance offense then took over. A short pass from Crowe to Seth Meyring turned into a big play as the Bulldog receiver broke a tackle and raced 47 yards to tie the school at 14. Unfortunately for AHS it was the Badger defense who scored the next points. A tipped Alliance pass was intercepted by the guests and returned 90 yards for the game’s next points. With 6 minutes left in the half Valentine surged ahead 20 to 14. Period 2 saw the Bulldogs go ahead with Crowe running it from the 2 yard line. Crowe passed to Espen Lanik for the extra point and the teams went into half with Alliance leading 22 to 20.
A 34 yard pass from Crowe to Timbers gave the Dogs great field position in the third. From the 9 yard line Alliance scored with a td pass from Crowe to Timbers. A pass to Meyring was good for the pat, increasing the Alliance lead to 30 to 20 with 8:29 remaining in the period. The Badgers answered back with another solid drive. It concluded with a one yard touchdown run which put the scored at 30 to 28 with4 minutes left in the period. The Bulldogs would then turn to their running game. Scampers of 34 and 37 yards by freshman Trini Trejo got the hosts close. From the one yard line AHS called on Trejo again and he answered with Alliance’s fifth touchdown on the night. The quarter ended with Alliance up 36 to 28. Valentine struck first in the final 12 minutes. A 16 yard pass for a Badger score closed the gap to 36 to 34 with 11 minutes to play. It was all Bulldogs after that. Crowe passed for his four touchdown, hitting Timbers for a 38 yard score which put Alliance ahead 42 to 34. Trejo was good for the point after, making the score 44 to 34. A fumble recovery by Moomey set up the Dogs next score. It was Crowe again to Timbers. This time Timbers scored from the 30 yard line. Lanik would tack on the extra point, increasing the AHS margin to 52 to 34. With 4 minutes remaining it was Trejo running it in from the 15 yard to end the game. Final Alliance 58 Valentine 34
Stats showed Crowe ending the night going 25-37 in the passing game with 5 touchdowns and 4 good extra points. Besides Timbers 10 catches 191 yards 3 touchdown night Alliance also had Lanik catching 9 for 34 yards and Amill grabbing 4 for 92 yards and a score. Meyring had one score and one pat. Trejo led Alliance in rushing with 10 carries for 132 yards with 1 score and 1 pat.
