Dobby’s Fall Festival Sees Strong Turnout

A weekend packed with events at Dobby’s Pioneer Town drew a strong turnout for the annual Dobby’s Fall Festival.

Lori White, Dobby’s Board President, said this year’s Fall Festival was a successful one, raising funds for the volunteer board to assist with expenses.

“We had a great weekend, as always,” said White. “We averaged, probably, around 3,000 people. It was down a little bit from what it usually is, but we still raised enough money to pay the bills for the winter. That’s always a good thing, for us. We’re always happy with that scenario. The weather was beautiful.”

White explained that among the events and features at the Fall Festival was live entertainment, vendors and delicious food.

“Bruce’s ice cream was to die for, as always,” White said. “We had the Candy Snap going strong and Sarsaparilla in the Saloon like always. It was just a really nice weekend. We had two ponies and a donkey to pet back in the corral, which that was fun for the kids.”

White is anticipating more action at Dobby’s on Friday as they will host Pioneer Days for the fourth graders from Grandview Elementary School.

“They will spend the day with us and learn what pioneer life was all about,” said White. “That’s always a highlight for us to teach them that they’ve got it pretty easy these days.”
