Alpha Delta Kappa, founded in 1947, is an international honorary organization of women educators dedicated to educational excellence, altruism, and world understanding through fellowship. Alpha Delta Kappa Month was celebrated by the local chapter, Alpha Zeta, with a carry-in dinner for members and a Founder’s Day Ceremony. Alpha Zeta also extended their gratitude, and an invitation to join their organization, to all female educators in Box Butte County with a special Halloween treat bag. Each year, Alpha Zeta chooses a local project or organization to support with a donation as well as one chosen at the state or international level. Alpha Zeta also awards a scholarship to a female graduate of a Box Butte County high school majoring in education and entering their student teaching semester. This year’s scholarship was awarded to Laykin Sperl, who will be a student teacher at Grandview Elementary next Semester. Other scholarships are also available to Alpha Delta Kappa members and non-member female educators at the state, regional, and international levels of the organization.
