It is with a heavy heart that I’m writing the obituary for my youngest daughter Samantha. She passed unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep at her home in Denver, CO on Monday Oct. 30. 2023 at the age of 58.
Sam was born in Alliance, NE to parents Karen and Duane on Aug. 14, 1965, joining her siblings, Kathy and John. Proceeding her in death were her mother Karen, her grandparents Mary & Cy Winkler, and Frances & Glenn Worley.
After graduating from Alliance High School, she continued her education by attending the University of Nebraska (Kearney, NE) and then the Travel Trade School in Boulder, CO. Over the course of her professional career, she attended many management and leadership training courses. After a successful 14-year career in the travel industry she turned her leadership skills to Corporate American, and finally for the City of Denver.
Samantha had a quick wit and clever mind, loved live music (especially jazz and blues). She was drawn to holistic and natural methods of healing and loved the challenge of helping others.
Sam’s ashes will reside next to her mother’s at St. John’s Cathedral in Denver, CO and a memorial service will follow at a later date.
