The Scottsbluff Police Department will be participating in the Selective Overtime Enforcement “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign”. The campaign will be active from December 15 through January 1, 2024. This campaign will help to reduce alcohol related fatal and serious injury crashes.
Officers will be conducting high visibility enforcement during this time. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that, on average, 32 people in the United States die every day in drunk-driving crashes.
In Nebraska, there are an average of more than 70 alcohol-related fatalities each year. The overtime enforcement is funded by a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office.
