Rev. James Edward Rowe (Jim), 93 of Alliance passed away on April 29th, 2024.
He was born January 1, 1931, in Watertown, SD. He was one of five children of George and Edith Rowe. After a few college years, Jim enlisted in the United States Airforce from 1951-1955. He fought in the Korean War and was a staff sergeant responsible for twenty men. He flew many missions as a radar man and machine gun mechanic. It was there that he dedicated himself to the Lord.
In 1959 he married Joyce-Lea Curnett in Kansas City, MO, and with a Master’s degree in theology, he graduated from Central Baptist Seminary in Kansas City. He was a member of the American Baptist Convention. Jim served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Scottsbluff, NE for twenty-six years. Following a short retirement, he also served as pastor of First Baptist Church of Alliance for seventeen years. Farming and ranching were always passions of Jim since childhood. The Rowe family owned a farm and raised cattle for over forty years.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joyce-Lea who passed in 2007. He is survived by his sister Joyce, children: Jeff (Krystin), John (Tania), and Jenn (Blake); his grandchildren: Mallory, Marcus, Brittany, Trey, Kaitlyn, Carly, Tanner, Nadia, and Isabella; as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance at 10:00 am with visitation starting at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be at Alliance Cemetery with military honors.
