A fire at an apartment building on Hammond Lane ignited a quick response from the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department early last Wednesday morning.
AVFD Assistant Chief Nick Hinman explained that they were dispatched at 12:37 a.m. last Wednesday, and they responded with 10 firefighters total. He noted that they departed from the scene about two hours after arriving and that the fire was determined to be accidental in nature.
No injuries were reported during the fire, Hinman said, but the damage to the property was estimated at $2,000.
Hinman advises people to check their smoke detectors to ensure that they are working properly, as it could save lives.
