Low Scoring Contest Goes to Imperial Seniors

On Monday, the Alliance Senior Spartans found themselves in a low scoring game against Imperial. Both teams could muster only 4 hits apiece in the seven inning ball game. Unfortunately, single runs in the third and fifth inning lifted the Horns over Alliance 2 to 1. Spartan starting pitcher Kaden Ferguson went the distance for the Peltz Co squad, giving up just 4 hits while striking out 9.

Things started out great for Alliance in the opening frame. Back to back hits by Jaxson Martinez and Tony Escamilla began action but the Spartans made 3 straight outs to end the inning. Imperial also failed to score in the inning and the ball game went scoreless heading to the second. The contest saw no runs in the next inning and the Spartans were denied runs in the top of the third. Using 2 miscues by the Peltz Co in the third, Imperial tallied one run to surge ahead 1 to 0.

Alliance went quietly in both the fourth and fifth innings as the score stayed at 1 to 0. In the bottom of the fifth, the Horns added a run on 2 hits and an Alliance error. The Spartans broke through in the sixth. Cody Gallas was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single by Escamilla. Two Ks by Ferguson kept the score at 2 to 1 heading to the final inning. The Peltz Co got a hit by Jaxon Poss but were denied any runs. Final. Imperial 2. Alliance 1
