APL, Highland Park to Host Nebraska Author

The Alliance Public Library and Highland Park Care Center will host Nebraska author Jaynet McCance for a book signing event for her book “Jessie” on Thursday, August 22nd at 5:30pm in the Alliance Public Library Community Room.

Jaynet McCance was born April 6, 1931 and lived in Crawford, Nebraska in a wilderness cabin for many years. In high school, Jaynet and several of her classmates started the Tri-City weekly newspaper where she wrote columns and news stories. After the death of her husband, Charley McCance, she started her own horticulture newsletter, “Coming up Roses,” which she wrote for 10 years with over 200 subscribers. Now, her life revolves around her family, her horses, reading, and her beloved dogs, Brandy and Pumpkin.

She is currently working on three novels about women and how they dealt with the era they lived in, using her own life and the lives of her loved ones as inspiration. Her book, “Jessie,” will be available for purchase at the event.
