Average September

As we head into what is known in meteorological terms as the first month of fall, we can expect to dramatically see a difference in our daylight hours and our average highs and lows. We start off the month seeing the sun rise at approximately 6:17 a.m., but by the time we end the month, the sun is rising a solid half hour later at around 6:47 a.m.

The sun sets just before 7:30 p.m. on the first of the month and at the end of the month we lose almost an hour of daylight with the sun going down at 6:35pm on September 30th!

Our average temperatures take quite a dip, too. On the first day of August, our average high is around 89 degrees. For September 1st, the average high is still warm, but it has dropped to 83 degrees. By the time we get to the end of September, the average high has dropped over 10 degrees and sits at a cool 70 degrees. For overnight lows, the average low in early August is around 57 degrees.

To start September, the average low drops into the upper 40s and by the end of September, the average low is only a handful of degrees away from the freezing mark. A mere 36 degrees!
