Lady Bulldogs Split Games with Gordon/Rushville and Ogallala

The Alliance volleyball team was on the road twice last week with matches at Gordon/Rushville and Ogallala. Alliance spilt the contests, downing Gordon in 3 sets while falling to Ogallala in three sets. The Bulldogs now see their record stand at 6 and 11. In the JV matchup against Gordon, Alliance was victorious in 3.

Tuesday night’s contest in Gordon was tight in set one. Alliance would get some strong ace spikes by Bulldog Addison Weber to pull away. An ace spike by the Alliance junior put the Dogs up 15 to 14. The set ended with another kill by Weber with the Dogs winning 25 to 21. Set 2 was another close affair with Alliance getting an early ace serve by Josie Sanders to go up 2 to 1. With the score knotted at 8, Alliance grabbed the lead following a kill by Bulldog setter Taylee Thompson. Bulldog senior Shyla Salcido then put Alliance up with a kill that the made the score 24 to 22 in favor of the guests. The second set concluded with an ace serve by Thompson which gave the Dogs a 25 to 22 win. It was all Alliance in set #3. An ace serve by Sanders made the score 3 to 0. Later in the set, the Dogs went ahead 12 to 5 following an ace block by Thompson. Weber then followed with another ace block that put the Bulldogs ahead by 8. The set and the match then ended with another ace serve by Sanders. Set 3 went to the Dogs 25 to 12.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs traveled to Ogallala to face the Indians. Set 1 saw the hosts grab an early lead with Alliance getting an ace from to Sanders to reduce their deficit to 5 to 4. Down 14 to 11 an ace by Macy Brooks got Alliance to within 2.

The rest of the set saw the Indians continuing their winning ways as Ogallala took the opener 25 to 14. Action was very even in set 2. An ace block by Salcido tied the game at 3. A couple of ace blocks by Brooks later in the set kept the Bulldogs close. Behind 14 to 11, a kill by Sanders pulled Alliance within 2. Another kill by Weber made the score 19 to 17 in favor of the hosts. Key plays in the final moments of the set went to Ogallala as the Indians took set #2 25 to 18. In the finale, Alliance kept things close. Alliance got a kill by Kaiah Adams to make the score 13 to 12. It was followed by an ace serve by Bailey Shannon that tied the game at 13. Alliance then took the lead with a kill by Thompson and another ace by Shannon. The game was then tied at both 17 and 21 when Ogallala finished the contest with a strong run. Final of set 3 the Indians 25 Alliance 22.
