Gering Ends Year for Lady Bulldogs with Three Set Win

For the fourth time this season, it was the battle of the Bulldogs in volleyball action as Alliance played Gering in the opening round of the Class B district 8 tournament played Tuesday in Gering. The top seeded hosts downed the visitors from Alliance in three sets 25-15 25-16 25-17 to advance to the finals on Wednesday. Alliance had lost all three contests to the Bulldogs and fell for the fourth time to finish their year with a 13 and 22 record.

Gering led for most of play in set one. Alliance would fight until to the end, but dropped the opener 25 to 15. Set 2 saw the early momentum go to the hosts and Gering went on to post the victory 25 to 16. Alliance made things interesting in set #3. But in the end it was too much from the G Dogs as they closed out the match by winning the third 25 to 17, Gering would then down Sidney in the finals on Wednesday but fall to York in four sets in an attempt to go to state.
