Alliance Police Department Warns of Saturday Scam Targeting Local Residents

The Alliance Police Department (APD) is warning the community about an active scam in which individuals posing as members of the APD are attempting to extort money from citizens.

The scammers are using the department’s non-emergency phone number, 308-762-4955, and falsely claiming to be Lieutenant Felker. They are contacting residents and demanding money or Bitcoin, threatening to issue warrants for arrest if their demands are not met.

The Alliance Police Department stresses that it does not and will not conduct business in this manner. At no time will APD demand money, cryptocurrency, or any form of payment over the phone to resolve legal matters or avoid arrest.

“These scammers are deliberately impersonating law enforcement to intimidate and defraud our residents,” said Officer Sherlock of the Alliance Police Department. “We want the public to know that we would never ask for money or Bitcoin over the phone. If you receive one of these calls, hang up and report it to us immediately.”

What to Do If You Receive a Scam Call:

  • Hang up immediately. Do not engage with the caller or provide any personal or financial information.

  • Verify the call. If you are unsure, contact the Alliance Police Department directly at 308-762-4955.

  • Report the scam. If you believe you’ve been targeted, call APD to report the incident.

The Alliance Police Department is actively investigating this scam and urges anyone with information to come forward. Protect yourself and your loved ones by staying informed and cautious.
