The annual People Helping People Thanksgiving Dinner is set for November 28, with plans in place to offer both dine-in and pickup options at St. Agnes Academy.
Organizer Rahne Girard explained that this year, the dine-in service will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and pickup will be available along Cheyenne Avenue by the Parish Center from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
“With the pickup option, you just stay in your car, and the volunteer comes out; you tell them how many meals you want and they bring the meals to you,” said Girard. “It’s kind of the same we’ve done the last two years. We’re still not doing deliveries just because we are still getting adjusted.”
People who are interested in helping the program may do so by donating money or pies, which will be accepted the Wednesday before Thanksgiving at St. Agnes, or by volunteering their time. Checks may be made payable to People Helping People and dropped off either the day of the event, or at Alliance Children’s and Allied Health.
“We’ll need help the Wednesday before de-boning the turkeys, getting the gym set up for the meal and all that stuff,” Girard said. “We’ll need help Thursday with getting the food ready and getting everything set up.”
