At the Alliance City Council meeting on November 19, 2024, several of our officers and staff were honored for their outstanding service, courage, and dedication to our community. Their actions exemplify the values of bravery, professionalism, and a commitment to public safety.
Lifesaving Awards
Officer Michael Gomez
Incident Date: April 28, 2024: Responding to a fentanyl overdose, Officer Gomez administered Narcan and coordinated with EMS, successfully saving the individual’s life. His expertise in recognizing overdose symptoms and rapid action made all the difference.
Sergeant Tim Peterson
Incident Date: August 14, 2024: Sergeant Peterson saved a female experiencing a severe fentanyl overdose by administering two doses of Narcan and using an AED. His follow-up education to the family on Narcan’s availability highlighted his care for the community beyond the call of duty.
Officer Parker Dahlberg & Officer Brandt Smith
Incident Date: July 21, 2024 Officers Dahlberg and Smith responded to a suspected fentanyl overdose where a female was unconscious and not breathing. Utilizing Narcan and sternum rubs, they successfully revived the individual, who began breathing and regained consciousness. Their quick response and decisive actions directly saved her life.
Chief’s Coins for Excellence
ACO Toni Ravert
Through vigilance and dedication, ACO Ravert identified and helped apprehend a suspect involved in trespassing and theft at Shovelhead’s Garage on October 4, 2024. Her actions went above and beyond her role and were pivotal in resolving the case.
Officer Parker Dahlberg
Officer Dahlberg is recognized for his incredible passion, proactiveness, and commitment to law enforcement, even as he is still in his first year with APD. Since May 2024, Officer Dahlberg has completed over 89 traffic stops, resulting in criminal cases involving narcotics, driving while impaired, and driving under suspension or revocation. His dedication to upholding the law has made Alliance a safer community.
Officer Tyler Sherlock
Officer Sherlock is recognized for his extraordinary efforts in digital forensics throughout 2024. Without being directed, he took it upon himself to master the GrayKey software, becoming APD’s go-to expert in extracting and analyzing data from cell phones for criminal investigations. Officer Sherlock’s work has been instrumental in solving cases not only for the APD but also for agencies across the Nebraska Panhandle. His initiative, skill, and commitment to excellence in this specialized field have made a significant impact on public safety.
Sergeant David LaDuke & Officer Dani Campbell
Their meticulous efforts during the trial for Tyler Denby ensured impactful testimony, which was critical to securing the conviction. The U.S. Attorney’s Office praised their professionalism and dedication.

Sergeant David LaDuke
Incident Date: September 15, 2024: While responding to a volatile mental health crisis, Sergeant LaDuke exhibited remarkable courage and professionalism. During the confrontation, the subject assaulted Sergeant LaDuke and he sustained a serious leg injury while protecting his fellow officer and the community. His bravery exemplifies the sacrifices made in the line of duty.
