Alliance School Board Interviewing Candidates for Open Board Position

The Alliance School Board is seeking the right candidate to fill the vacancy on the board left by Board Member Dave Rischling, who decided to not seek re-election.

The Board convened a special meeting to interview candidates on Monday night, with the hopes of filling the position on Jan. 13 at their regular meeting. Alliance Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Troy Unzicker explained that there has been a lot of interest in the position, with the board selecting five candidates to be interviewed.

“The goal is to have somebody ready to seat on the January 13 meeting, when we go through reorganization, so we know who we’re working with,” said Unzicker. “Unfortunately, nobody in the public had run for that position, so that’s what created the opening.”

Rischling was elected to serve on the school board in the 2020 election, and he served for one four-year term.

During the meeting on Monday evening, the School Board Members selected Matt Bloyd to fill the vacancy left by Rischling.
