The Alliance, Nebraska City Council met in a Regular Meeting on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Present were Council Members McGhehey, Mashburn, Weisgerber, Liptack and Turman.
Council acted on and/or discussed the following items of business:
1. Proclaimed the week of January 26, 2025 – February 1, 2025 as Catholic Schools Week.
2. Approved the Consent Calendar. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
3. Conducted a Public Hearing on the recommended approval of Manager Application for Shawn Strickland for the B & W Gas and Convenience dba YesWay, to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Following the Public Hearing, Council approved Resolution No. 24-142 recommending approval of the Manager Application for Shawn Strickland for B & W Gas and Convenience dba YesWay to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
4. Passed the first reading of Ordinance No. 2990, which will approve and amend the City of Alliance Municipal Code Chapter 26-127, titled Restricted Parking. The amendment will allow for the “no parking” restrictions at 9th and Big Horn Avenue. Ayes: Turman, Liptack and McGhehey. Nay: Mashburn. Motion carried.
5. Passed the first reading of Ordinance No. 2992, which will approve and amend the City of Alliance Municipal Code Chapter 26-127, titled Restricted Parking. The amendment will be for two “no parking” spaces on Niobrara Avenue between 5th and 6th Street. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
6. Appointed Ordinance No. 2993, which will adopt the proposed 2025 City Council meeting schedule. The City Council’s Meetings will be the first and third Tuesday’s of the month, with no changes needed due to Holidays. Ayes: All. Motion carried.
