The Western Community College Area Board of Governors has declared a vacancy in District 2 and District 4 due to the retirement of long-time board members Lynne Klemke and Karen Anderson. The Board is seeking individuals who are interested in filling the vacant positions.
Klemke, of Oshkosh, has served on the Board since 2011, including four years as the Board Chair. Anderson, formerly of Gering, began her tenure on the Board in 2017, and has been the Chair since January 2024.
There were no applicants in the 2024 election to fill the WCCA Electoral District 2 vacancy. District 2 includes all precincts of the Cheyenne, Deuel, Garden, and Kimball counties and the Broadwater precinct of Morrill County.
Electoral District 4 includes all precincts of Banner County, and Scotts Bluff County excluding Highland, Dewey-Tabor, East Winter Creek, West Winter Creek, Funston, Minatare I & II, and Scottsbluff I through VIII precincts. The vacancy will be to fulfill the remainder of Anderson’s term, through December 2026.(?)
Interested applicants for either vacancy should send a letter and a resume by February 5, 2025 to the WCCA Board of Governors, c/o Susan Verbeck, Board Secretary, 1601 East 27th Street, Scottsbluff, NE 69361.
To celebrate the service of Klemke and Anderson, the Board will host an open house following the conclusion of the January board meeting on Jan. 15.
