Johnson Brothers Take Home Gold Medals in the Mile at AMS Quad

Four teams competed in a Quad meet on Tuesday at Alliance’s Bulldog stadium. Joining St. Agnes, were Chadron, Hyannis, and Alliance Middle School. No team scores were taken and the event consisted of 7th grade and 8th grade boys and girls. The highlight for the Crusaders came in the boy’s mile where brothers Tee and Tripp Johnson were first place finishers. Tee won the 7th grade race with a time of 6:18 while Tripp won the 8th grade event with a time of 5:20. Seventh grader Tatum Devlin had a super day, winning both the 800 and pole vault. In the 8th grade competition, it was the Academy’s Paxton Richey the winner with a vault of 7’0 and Tripp Johnson first in the 800.

St. Agnes also had a nice showing on the girl’s side. Overall, the Lady Crusaders won 10 girl’s events. Seventh grade Aubrey Dudden won the high jump with a leap of 4’6. Alliance smashed 3 school record and tied one record in the pole vault. Leading the record breaking charge was Alexis Shelmadine who broke the record in the 100 hurdles and tied the record in the pole vault. Penn Vergil continued her fine season with a school record time of 2:39 in winning the 800. St. Agnes won the 400 relay with a record breaking time of 56.3. Members were: Vergil, Shelmadine, Reese Armstrong, and Quinn Robertson. Other gold medalists were: Armstrong in the 200, Robertson in the 200 hurdles, Maslin Breen in the high jump, Vergil in the long jump, and Shelmadine in the triple jump.
