Reflections for the Week of May 26

Accounting and Finance:

 Completed Payroll

 Completed Payment approval report for Council

 Attended informational webinar on T-Mobile

 Completed month-end processes

Utility Billing Services:

 Cycle 4 bills mailed

 Cycle 2 Reminder notices mailed

 Added eleven new residential accounts

Police:

 Attended APS Leadership Meeting

 Working on estimates for body worn cameras, in-car cameras, and drones for budget preparation.

 Finalized coverage for Heritage Days schedule

 APD will participate in the Bike Rally at BBGH on Saturday morning Parks Division:

 Crews moved into town to mow and trim when the weather allowed. Primary focus was on Central Park in preparation for the Thunder on the Prairie car show this weekend.  Staff assisted with three interments at the cemetery this week.

 Repaired mowers as necessary throughout the week.

 Repaired several toilets at Laing Lake damaged from vandalism.

 Trimmed trees to improve irrigation efficiency.

 Assisted with clean up and equipment repairs at the pool.

 Repaired irrigation as necessary throughout the parks system.

 Completed repairs in several concession stands this week.

Golf:

 Although rain was greatly needed, it did hinder play this week

 Added an irrigation head in an area by the clubhouse that wasn’t getting adequate water  Had the first junior league practice with fourteen kids attending. Junior golf is also going well.

 Ordered signs asking individuals to keep off of the grass

Museum:

 Worked at the Cemetery over the Memorial Day weekend to assist individuals with finding graves. Conducted a grave witching presentation at the Cemetery.  Continued digitizing court records received from Box Butte County.

 The facility was rented for a bridal shower and birthday party this week.  Started work on a new project to assemble information about every business that has operated out of each building downtown.

Pool:

 Worked on balancing the water and getting the water temp up for opening on Friday.  Trained all 33 pool seasonal staff in CPR & First Aid, and sixteen of those were also certified as lifeguards.

 Vacuumed the pool floor several times in preparation for opening.

 Hung netting above the front desk in an effort to keep birds from nesting in the rafters of the pool

Library:

 We are completing our first week of summer reading! The kids have all been so excited about this year’s program. This time of year is a great one in the library since we get the chance to see so many new people enjoying the library and all the nice young people we have here in Alliance. There is some great parenting going on in this town. . .amazing! The weekly prize drawing for this week gave one lucky student a wristband to use at Heritage Days!

 Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held Storytime at Highland Park this week as part of our summer reading program. There was a packed house with many of the residents joining in on the children’s activities. We feel lucky to have the chance to work together with this organization and look forward to doing more events like this in the future.

 We are happy to report that Stephanie Hamilton has been promoted from her clerk position to that of Adult Services Librarian!

 Library Clerk Pam Becker has been very busy keeping the desk in order and making sure all our students are being taken care of. Lots of busy work for her this week! Electric:

 Performed switching and de-energized Broadwater substation to enable contractor to perform testing of transformer and related equipment

 Started rebuild project on line south on CR 59

 Continued installation of load control/disconnect boxes

 Assisted In-alert on troubleshooting license plate reader camera system Streets:

 15 locates

 Patch potholes

 Weed eat around signs

 Work on sweeper; Sweep and sweeper training

 Graded Sweetwater, E 12th , E 9th , E 8th , W 2nd, Elkhorn, and drive-in road  Put out barricades for car show

 Serviced equipment

Airport:

 We continue to pursue getting an answer from the federal government on airline selection. Today we received notice of the “stay in place” order for Denver Air Connection, which means that they will continue to serve Alliance a decision has been made at the Federal level. IF the federal government awards service to a new airline, it it will take approximately 60-75 days from award for a new airline to begin providing service.

 Bid award for the electrical project is on the upcoming agenda.

 Working on the warranty items from two previous projects that need to be completed by end of summer.

 Updated lease and budget work continues.

 Training continues with the new temporary employee.

 Staff removed multiple dead trees from around terminal and FBO area.  Repaired hose line on Loader.

 Wildlife Control continues along with the filling of prairie dog holes.  We appreciate all the rain without hail that is happening, but mowing will now be in full swing now that the sun is shining!

Landfill:

 156 customers; 289 tons of refuse this week

 Laid dirt cover

 Conducted refuse route training

 Excavator, Burn box training

 Ongoing debris cleanup on road

Water/Sewer:

 Repaired heat shrink on Elkhorn VFD

 Collected chlorine residuals

 Replaced static mixer, rebuilt all chlorine lines on Elkhorn Well  Collected routine samples at airport

 Camera inspected 4 separate sewer lines

 Removed all scrap metal from water tower

 Stripped all old water meters

 Mow and weed-eat around all lift stations

 Prepare for lead and copper samples

 Completed 15 locates and 7 work orders

 Repaired chlorine leak at Burnham Well

 Updated lift station checklists

 Completed 4 meter changeouts
