Seniors End Rapid Tournament with 8 to 0 Loss to Miles City

The four day Veteran Classic held in Rapid City came to an end for the Alliance Senior team on Sunday with a matchup with Miles City. Hits were hard to muster for the Spartans in the game as the Outlaws downed the Peltz Co 8 to 0. Alliance was limited to just 3 knocks in the five inning affair.

On the weekend, the Spartans played 5 games and went 3 and 2. The Peltz Co now sees their record stand at 6 and 2 on the year. Alliance began the tournament with a Thursday win against Cody and a victory over Chadron on Friday. On Saturday, the Peltz Co split a pair of games, losing to Billings and downing Sturgis. Sunday’s game saw the Outlaws scoring in every inning in getting the shut out win. Four Spartans took the mound with starter Carver Nemich pitching one inning plus. Also pitching were: Espen Lanik, Cody Galles, and Creighton Fritzler. Leading the offense was Kobe Strom who had 2 hits.

A leadoff hit by Spartan Jaxon Poss got the Peltz Co off to a solid start. Unfortunately, Poss failed to score. In the bottom of the first, Miles City plated 2 runs to surge ahead. The Outlaws used a couple of Alliance errors to go up 2 to 0. Strom had a double for the Spartans in the top of inning #2 but was left on the bases. Meanwhile, the club from Montana increased their lead with 3 scores in the home half of the inning. Three doubles and an RBI single made the scorebook read Miles City 5 Alliance 0 after 2 innings of action.

Inning #3 had Alliance going scoreless and the Outlaws plating one more tally. Strom had another double for the Spartans in the fourth but was stranded. In the home half of the frame, Montana scored once and took a 7 to 0 lead heading to the final inning. The seniors from Alliance went down in order and the game ended with one more score by the Outlaws in the bottom of the inning. Final Outlaws 8 Spartans 0
