Navy Team Puts 20 Runs on the Board in Big Win over Buckley

Twelve hits and 15 walks were the right combination for the Alliance Navy team in game two with Buckley on Monday. The Spartans took down the Bombers 20 to 4 to split the doubleheader. Earlier in the evening, the Peltz Co lost a heartbreaker to Buckley 5 to 4 in the first game of the twin bill. Carson Stull got the win for the Navy, going the distance and recording 4 strikeouts. The contest was called after five innings due the run rule and was played in Chappell. On offense, Alliance got a big effort from Israel Garcia who had 3 hits. The Spartans improved to 12-15-1 for the season. A nine run second inning carried the Peltz Co to the win.

Three first inning tallies helped the Spartans get off to a super beginning. Israel Garcia singled to begin the action. After an out, the next 4 Alliance batters walked as the Spartans surged ahead 1 to 0. Casyn Nelson then drove in run #2 when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Another free pass, this one to Kyler Hamel, resulted an Alliance’s third score. Buckley came back with a score in the home half of the inning. The Bombers used a single and a double get within 2 at 3 to 1 after one inning of action.

Nine runs by Alliance in the second gave the guests an 11 run margin. Five walks by the Peltz Co helped Alliance pull away. RBI hits by Reese Muhr, Nelson, Garcia, Miguel Galvan, and O’Gorman made the score Alliance 12 Buckley 1. Stull held the Bombers scoreless in the second. He also had one strikeout in the frame. One more tally by the Peltz Co in the third made it a 13 to 1 ball game. Garcia was hit by a pitch and scored Alliance’s thirteenth run after a passed ball by the hosts. In the bottom of the frame, Buckley got one back thanks to a single and double.

Inning #4 had Alliance getting 2 runs on an error by Buckley and an RBI double by Nelson. Chappell tallied a score in the bottom of the inning on a pair of singles and a sacrifice fly. Five more runs by the Peltz Co in their final at bat secured the win. Knocks by Jackson Devlin, Israel Garcia, O’Gorman, Muhr, and Jayden Garcia made the board read Alliance 20 Chappell 3. The Bombers would get one score in the bottom of the fifth but the contest ended with a double play turned by the Spartans and another k by Stull. Final Alliance 20 Buckley 4
