Big scoring innings in the second, third, and fourth powered the Alliance junior white team past Sidney 17 to 11 in a ball game played in Alliance on Monday. The Spartans plated 5 scores in second, 6 runs in the third, and 5 more in the fourth in getting their 17th W for the year. Alliance got 3 hit efforts from Jaxon Poss, Braeden Clarke, and Mikey Johnson to pace the offense. The Peltz Co used 2 pitchers. They were started EJ Garcia and reliever Jackson Smith.
Sidney came at on fire in the first inning, scoring 3 times. The guests used a couple of hits and a pair of wild pitches to surge ahead 3 to 0. Alliance scored once in the opener on hits by Clarke and Johnson. Down by 2, Spartan Garcia settled down on the mound as Sidney failed to score in the second. Four big hits by the Spartans in the bottom of the inning helped the hosts take a lead. In all, the Peltz Co scored 5 times to go up 6 to 3. The spree began when Kegan Nelson reached after being hit by a pitch. Lexton Salcido was next and his single continued the rally. An error by Sidney then made the score 3 to 2. RBI knocks then ensued form Garcia, Poss, and Clarke that gave the Spartans a 4 to 3 advantage. The scoring closed with a 2 run mistake by Sidney and the Peltz Co leading 6 to 3.
Two walks plus an RBI single pulled Sidney to within 2 at 6 to 4 in the top of the third. Alliance countered with a little 2 out magic. The Spartans tallied 6 runs in the inning to go up 12 to 4. With 2 outs, the rally started with Tanner Salcido walking and Garcia being struck by a Sidney pitch. Four straight RBI knocks by the Spartans gave the Peltz Co a 7 run cushion. The hits came from: Poss, Clarke, Espen Lanik, and Johnson. Alliance’s 12th tally came after an error by the visitors.
Both teams got into the scoring column in the fourth. Sidney put 2 in the column with a walk, a single, and a double. Up 12 to 6, the Spartans answered right back with a 5 spot. A 2 run double by Garcia started the scoring. It was followed by run scoring hits by Poss, Lanik, and Johnson. For the game, Johnson total 5 RBIs. Sidney was not done as the guests plated 4 scores in top of the fifth and held the Peltz Co scoreless. Heading to the final frame, the White club was ahead 17 to 10.
