The battle was the second contest of the night with the Storm winning game one 7 to 3. Alliance ended the matchup with 3 hits. The Peltz Co got five solid 5 innings from starting pitcher Teagan O’Gorman in getting the W. Kyler Adams pitched the sixth and had 2 strikeouts.
WESTCO went down in order in the top of the first while the Preps got one score. Spartan Braden Myers walked to start the rally. The Peltz Co then got in the scoring column when Myers scored after an RBI ground out by Cooper Galles. An Alliance double play in the top of the second kept the Storm off the board. In the home half of the frame, the hosts scored twice to go up by 3. The Spartans loaded the bases with a hit by Sonny Hernandez, a walk by Carson Stroud, and a hit by pitch by Roy Torres. Ryan Walker was next and his 2 run single gave the Peltz Co a three run lead.
No tallies were posted in the third and fourth innings. The Alliance defense was strong in the top of inning 4 when an Express player was tagged out at the plate. O’Gorman had a scoreless fifth inning. The Spartans pushed one across in the bottom of the frame. Myers walked and moved into scoring position after a sacrifice bunt by Cisco Cody. A Gallas hit advanced Myers to third and he would score after a wild pitch by the Storm.
WESTCO didn’t go down without a fight in their final at bat. Scottsbluff used a walk and a couple of hits to close the gap to 4 to 1. An error by Alliance cost the hosts 2 more runs, making the game a 4 to 3 game. With the bases full, Adams was able to strike out the last 2 Storm hitters to preserve the 4 to 3 win.
