Timely hitting and a sold effort by pitcher Braden Myers lifted the Alliance Prep team past Gordon 12 to 2 in a contest played Monday in Alliance . The Spartans managed only 3 hits on the night but scored in every frame in the four inning matchup. Myers went all 4 innings, allowing just 2 hits and striking out 7. With the victory, the Peltz Co goes to 8 and 15 on the season. The game was the first game of a doubleheader between the teams.
Security First went down 1-2-3 in the top of the first with Myers getting one k. Alliance got one run in the bottom of the inning. A catcher’s interference allowed Silas Lilley-Stone to reach to start the scoring. Quinn Ferguson followed with a single and the Prep’s first tally came on a sac fly by Esai Trejo. Gordon went down in order in the second as Myers struck out the side. The Peltz Co put 4 runs into the score column in the bottom of the second. With 2 outs, Kylar Adams walked and eventually scored on an error by the guests and a passed ball. A wild pitch and another miscue by Gordon made the score 4 to 0. Trejo ended the scoring with an RBI double. After 2 innings, the Preps led 5 to 0.
Inning 3 had both squads scoring. Gordon used a single and an Alliance error to plate their first run. Six more tallies by the Peltz Co ensued as the Spartans broke open the game. Alliance’s Cooper Galles started the rally when he reached after a mistake by Security First. The next 2 runners then walked to loaded the bases. A pair of steals of home by the Preps made the score 7 to 1. Cisco Cody added a hit to continue the spree. The scoring ended with 4 more Alliance runs thanks to a hit batter, an RBI walk by Trejo, a sac fly by Ryan Walker, and a balk by the Gordon hurler.
Down 11 to 1 in the final attempt, Gordon scored once in the top of the fourth. The visitors had a single, a walk, and a Spartan passed ball to make it an 11 to 2 game. The contest closed with the Peltz Co getting one more tally. With the bases full, Lilly-Stone finished the battle with a sac fly. Final. Alliance 12 Gordon 2
