Police:

 Attended Heritage Days Board Meeting

 Prepared initial draft for APD Operations Budget

 Beginning renewal process for Nebraska Accreditation

 Attended virtual demo of Daupler AI technology

 Worked with Motorola to reprogram dispatch consoles for weather warnings and alerts  New APD radios have shipped and should arrive soon

Accounting and Finance:

 Payroll completed

 Doxo online payment option reviewed

 Completed one LARM grant

 E911 Fund review

Utility Billing Services:

 Cycle 3 and 4 bills mailed

 Cycle 1 and 2 reminder notices mailed

 Ten new residential accounts

 One new commercial account

Electric:

 Continue installation of load control/disconnect boxes

 Replaced “reject”pole on Knox Road

 Removed electric service to building on West 2nd Street

 Replaced several line “cutouts” at various rural locations

 Installed new cabinet and upgraded electric lines at Thompson Potato in Berea  Started a three-phase underground project at JCC on CR 58

 Installed new meter in Cody substation to be used for load control monitoring Water:

 22 radios installed

 10 locates

 Regular, airport and well samples

 Assisted customer filling water tanks

 Cleaned chlorine analyzer at chlorine plant

 Assisted parks department in finding a water leak

 Powertech ran conduit for new generator at Lift Station “C”

 Sargent irrigation doing tests on 12th and Missouri well

Streets:

 Hauled rock and graded Sunshine Ave

 Graded 8th Street

 11 locates

 Tear out curb, drain, and street at 6th and Grand; replaced concrete

 Patched potholes around city

 Traveled to Scottsbluff to pick up parts

 Fixed washouts and put rock around shop

 Replaced pump and gun cable on paint machine

Landfill:

 310.11 tons of refuse this week

 299 customers

 Ran burn box

 Laid dirt cover

 Performed weekly equipment maintenance

 Repaired pickup door

 Cleaned up metal pile

 Worked on future c/d tipping pad

 Employee CDL training

Museum:

 Hosted the NE safety workshop for area transit drivers

 There was a baby shower hosted in the building

 Parker hosted an employee meeting

 Continued with digitizing court records

 Made final preparations for the open house

Parks Division:

 Got all parks mowed this week and trimmed as needed; Picked up grass clippings as necessary

 Completed irrigation repairs at Laing Lake, Library, BN Minipark, and the Box Butte Islands

 Moved picnic tables around for community events

 Applied Algaecide at Laing Lake

 Applied fertilizer on all large park areas and at the cemetery

 Serviced the Hustler mower

 Started preparations for the 4th of July activities next week

Library:

 The library has been a busy place this week with the wrap up of the children’s summer reading program. We will be finishing up this and then jumping right into the program for adults on Monday. We have some fun things coming up so be sure to watch our website and Facebook page for details!

 Children’s Librarian Cynthia Horn held “Under the Alliance Night Sky” events that included Robotics with 4-H, and a Humanities Nebraska presentation with Michael McDonald featuring “Cowboy Poetry and Nighthawk Tunes” with a Quilts of Valor ceremony for Mr. McDonald. Other events included Story Time Stars with special guests, Dave Ocken and Dr. Christina Kloch, Adventure Book Club with special guest, Cam Wade with Recycled Crafts by Kathy Worley and Keep Alliance Beautiful. In addition, we’re checking in final reading logs throughout the week with more great prizes! We wrapped up votes for the Carhenge Replica and Book Spine Poetry Contests and held drawings for Grand Prizes. Cynthia’s daily projects included backpack maintenance, cataloging new items, updating book displays and overdue notices, and social media updates.

 Adult Services Librarian Stephanie Hamilton has been making final preparations for the Adult Summer Reading Program “Under the Alliance Sky”, which will run Monday, June 30 through August 1st. Adult readers who would like to participate will receive an entry in weekly drawings for every 5 books read. This year’s grand prize will be a Blackstone Griddle with accessories and a cover courtesy of the Alliance Public Library Foundation! Steph also delivered books and visited Highland Park Care Center, maintained displays, facilitated book club and prepared for the upcoming book clubs.

 Technical Services Librarian Mason Trumble has been busy with the library’s website, circulation desk training, and cleaning out the library’s technical equipment.  Library Clerk Pam Becker has been very helpful in finalizing the children’s summer reading program and preparing for the beginning of the upcoming adult summer reading program.

Golf:

 Play continues to be steady with favorable weather conditions

 Prepared for the ARC Scramble on the weekend.

 There are fourteen junior golfers participating in the PGA Junior league  Course looks amazing as maintenance staff continues to work tirelessly during this busy time

Senior Center & RSVP:

 RSVP had fifteen volunteers in the community

 Continued to provide dine in and delivery meals to area seniors

 Coordinated activities including Bingo, cards, Bunco, and Coffee and Treats at the Senior Center.

Administration:

 We were notified that the Council’s first selection for City Clerk would not be accepting the position

 Met with multiple department heads to discuss possible projects including water and sewer at the airport and golf course, public safety center, and implementation of a response management system for dispatch services

 Accepted fireworks for the Independence Day show

 Met with multiple Council members

 Preparation for next week’s City Council Meeting

 Met with representatives of the Alliance Recreation Center

 Addressed personnel issues

 Received positive feedback on the Carnegie Arts Center inaugural Mural Festival at Carhenge!
