AVFD Responds to Garage Fire

An early-morning fire summoned firefighters for a quick response last Tuesday in the 1600 block of Emerson.

According to information released on the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department’s social media, the call came in at approximately 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“The fire department responded with a fire engine, an aerial ladder platform, an ambulance, and a heavy rescue truck,” the post stated. “Upon our arrival, the sole occupant was outside of the home. Crews made quick work of containing the main fire to the garage with limited spread into the house. The inside of the home suffered from water and smoke damage, as well as extreme heat throughout. Unfortunately, one pet did perish inside the home from smoke inhalation.”

The State Fire Marshal Investigator out of Ogallala came to the scene of the fire to aid in the investigation of the cause of the fire.

The AVFD was aided by the Alliance Police Department, dispatchers, the Alliance Electric, Water and Streets Department, as well as Black Hills Energy. The Firefighter Ministry of Scottsbluff was also contacted to offer assistance to the owner of the property.
