Homers Plague Seniors in 9 to 1 Loss to Sanfort

Two home runs including a grand slam powered Sanford over the Alliance seniors 9 to 1 in action played on Thursday. The Spartans fell to 17 and 7 for the year. Sanford Sports Academy had a 2 run bomb in the second and a slam in the sixth in getting the win. The matchup was the second game for the Peltz Co in a weekend tournament in Gillette, Wyoming. Pitching for the Seniors was starter Fletcher Moseman and reliever Miguel Galvan. Alliance finished the evening with 3 hits.

Both squads went down 1-2-3 in the opening inning. The Sioux Falls squad then turned a double play in the top of the second that stopped a Spartan rally. In the home half, Sanford scored twice on a 2 run homer. Bats were again silenced by Sanford in the third as the Peltz Co was turned away. Two singles. a walk, and a passed ball in bottom of the frame gave the Academy a 4 run lead heading to the fourth.

Alliance would get their first hit on the game in the fourth on a double by Jaxson Esparza but no runs. Sanford continued the pressure in the home frame with another score. The fifth inning had both clubs failing to score. In the top of the sixth , the seniors broke thru with one tally. Hits by Jaxon Poss and Kegan Rodriguez made it a 5 to 1 contest.
