Preps Take Down Gering with Three Scores in Their Final at Bat

For the fifth time this season, Alliance and Gering battled in Prep baseball action on Sunday. The Spartans rallied and down Gering 5 to 4 for their third win over their rivals. Alliance got 3 no hit frames from reliever Cisco Cody to stay close. Gering led by 4 in the top of the sixth but the Peltz Co staged its comeback with 2 in the sixth and 3 scores in the 7th. Logan Freiberger tossed the first 4 innings for the Prep. At the dish, Alliance had 8 hits with eight different players getting one apiece.

Momentum was on the side of Gering in the early moments. Alliance went down quickly in the top of the opening frame while Gering scored once. In the second, once again the Spartans failed to score. A walk, and error, and a single by Gering in the home half made the deficit for the Peltz Co stand at 3.

Alliance got a chance in the top of inning 3 with singles by Silas Linney-Stone and Logan Freiberger but both runners were left on the bags. Freiberger held Gering scoreless in their at bat in the bottom of the third. The Prep squad failed to score in their next at bat while Gering pushed one across to increase their margin to 4. After 4 innings of action, the Spartans trailed 4 to 0.

Bats were silent for both teams in the fifth. The Alliance comeback began in the top of the sixth with 2 tallies. Knocks by Esai Trejo and Eban Lore set the table for Cooper Galles who responded with a 2 run single. Down 4 to 2, Cody put down Gering 1-2-3 in the home half. Inning #7 started with a walk to Spartan Ryan Walker and an RBI double by Kylar Adams. Dixon Bair was next and his hit continued the spree. A passed ball by Gering then tied the contest at 4. The Peltz Co comeback was then completed with a hit by Quinn Ferguson that gave the Prep team a 5 to 4 lead. Gering didn’t score in their last at bat. Final Alliance 5 Gering 4
