Preps Fall to Sidney 12 to 4

A no hitter tossed by a pair of Sidney pitchers was trouble for the Alliance Prep team on Sunday. The Spartans dropped a 12 to 4 decision to their rivals. Sidney scored in every frame in the four inning contest in getting the victory. Alliance used 5 walks and 3 errors by Sidney to plate 4 runs but were held without a hit in the loss. The Prep club has a 19-18-1 record for the season. Pitching for the Peltz Co was starter AJ Garcia who went 3 innings and relief hurler Roy Torres.

In the first, Alliance went down 1-2-3 while Sidney scored twice. Two walks and 2 hits helped Sidney surge ahead 2 to 0. With 2 tallies in the top of the second, the Prep tied the battle. The highlight of the frame came when Silas Lilley-Stone stole home for the Spartan’s first score. Alliance then knotted the game at 2 after an error by Sidney. Four more runs in the bottom of the inning put the Peltz Co deficit at 4. Alliance got one back in the top of inning #3. Braden Myers walked and moved to third following a pair of miscues by Sidney. A balk by the Sidney pitcher then made it a 6 to 3 ball game. Sidney increased its margin the home half with one more tally and heading to the final frame, the Preps were down 7 to 3.

Free passes to Kylar Adams, Sonny Hernandez, and Torres gave the Spartans in chance in the top of the fourth. Logan Feiberger was next and his RBI walk made the scoreboard read 7 to 4. Unfortunately, the Spartan rally was put down without any more scores. Sidney then finished off the Peltz Co with 5 runs in their last attempt. Final Sidney 12 Alliance 4
