Heritage Days Deemed a Success, Sees Some Changes

Heritage Days 2025 has come and gone, with organizers declaring it a success for the community as people gathered together to celebrate

Alliance Chamber of Commerce Director Cassielien VanKerrebrook explained that this year’s Heritage Days saw some changes, such as replacing the search for the item with a scavenger hunt that lasted throughout the week.

“This year has been exciting,” said VanKerrebrook. “We had quite a bit more committee members. We had some new events this year. We brought back Family Night, which was huge. We had a great turnout. Our members invest in our community, so we wanted to find a way to give back to our members, and the best way to do that was by having the scavenger hunt last all week long; everyone could participate. They got more foot traffic to their stores. The elderly were able to be more involved and inside air conditioning. It’s a lot more fun.”

VanKerrebrook explained that having had the experience of Heritage Days last year helped guide her through this year’s planning. She said that the committee has worked hard to make Heritage Days a success, taking time to plan since February. She said it takes a lot of community involvement to pull off the events.

“This started in February, and we don’t even end until Heritage Days is over,” VanKerrebrook said. “So, we’ll have a wrap-up meeting to talk about what could have gone better. There’s Keep Alliance Beautiful, there’s the youth volunteers. Almost every single person and business affiliated with the Chamber has an affiliation with helping with Heritage Days.”
