District play continued for the Alliance junior Navy club on Sunday with a match up against Post 94 from Minden. Thirteen hits by the Spartans propelled the Peltz Co to a 11 to 3 victory. The game was played in Holdrege. Alliance pulled away late with a 4 run fourth inning and a 3 tally fifth frame in getting their 24th W on the year. The game was called after the fifth due to the run rule. Teagan O’Gorman continued his big season in leading the Navy with 3 knocks. Alliance got three strong innings from starter Israel Garcia in advancing in the tourney. Reliever Jackson Devlin ended the contest with 2 scoreless innings. He gave up just 1 hit in his 2 frames of work.
Both teams had success in the first. Post 94 scored using a pair of walks, a single, and a sac fly to go up by 1. Alliance responded with a 3 spot in the bottom of the inning. Hits from O’Gorman and Tanner Salcido plus a walk by Casyn Rodriguez loaded the bases for Carson Stull. The Spartan first baseman then knotted the game with an RBI ground out. Alliance then went up by two after RBI hits by Miguel Galvan and Dixon Bair. After one inning of play, the Peltz Co had a 3 to 1 lead.
No runs were tallied in the second as Garcia recording a strikeout for the Navy club. Minden then tied the game in the third with 2 scores. A big 2 run single by Post 94 made it 3 to 3. Alliance retook the lead in the bottom of the third thanks to an RBI single by Devlin. The Spartans had a super inning in the fourth on both sides. A Minden runner was tagged out at the plate as the Spartans maintain their one run advantage. Offensively, the Navy squad extended their margin with 4 scores in the bottom of the fourth. The spree began with a hit by O’Gorman and Salcido reaching after being hit by a pitch. An RBI bunt single by Jayden Garcia make it a 5 to 3 contest. Bair was next and his 2 run double put the Spartans ahead by 4. The Peltz Co ended the scoring with a RBI hit by Devlin. Heading to the fifth, Alliance had an 8 to 3 lead.
Devlin had a strikeout in his final inning on the mound as the Spartans continued to lead by 5. In the home half of the fifth, the Navy club finished the game with 3 tallies. Once again it was a hit by O’Gorman that began the scoring. Salcido was next and his double make it 9 to 3. The rally went on with Rodriguez reaching after being hit by a pitch. A double by Jayden Garcia put the Spartan lead at 10 to 3. The Peltz Co’s final score came on an RBI single by Galvan. Final Alliance 11 Minden 3
