Nine up and nine down best describes the effort from Alliance pitcher Tony Escamilla and the Alliance White squad on Saturday in their contest against Imperial. Escamilla faced 9 batters and retired all 9 in leading the Spartans to a 15 to 0 win over Pinnacle Bank. The ball game was played in Sidney and was the opening round contest of the Class B 7 districts. Escamilla had 4 k’s in the game which was called after three innings due to the run rule. Alliance had 11 hits on the night as the Peltz Co improved to 24-3-1 for the season. Three members of the White club finished the match up with 2 hits. They were: Creighton Fritzler, Carver Nemnich, and Mikey Johnson. A nine run third inning put the perfect game away.
Escamilla’s no hitter started with a 1-2-3 first and one strikeout. On offense, the Spartans scored 2 runs in the home half. Fritzler singled to start the scoring. He would steal second and score after an RBI knock by Johnson. Alliance’s second tally came following a passed ball and a run scoring hit by Nason Thompson. Another scoreless frame by Escamilla in the second kept the White’s teams’ lead at 2. In the bottom of the inning, the Spartans went up by 6 with four scores. Jaxon Poss began the rally with a walk and advanced after a passed ball by the Horns. The Peltz Co’s third run came when Braeden Clarke doubled to make it a 3 to 0 ball game. The scoring concluded with Nemnich also doubling that made the scoreboard read Alliance 6 Imperial 0.
Two more strikeouts by Escamilla in his last inning helped Alliance maintain their 6 run advantage. The Spartans then put the game away with 9 scores in the home half. Six hits by the Peltz Co in the frame sealed the deal. Free passes to Escamilla and Jaxson Esparza got the rally going. A RBI hit by Poss made it 7 to 0. Clarke was next and his hit was misplayed by Pinnacle Bank and it resulted in 2 more Alliance tallies. Another Fritzler knock ensued as the White club kept the pressure on. Nemnich had a 2 run double making the score 11 to 0. The game came to an end with the Navy club getting hits from Johnson, Escamilla, and Esparza plus a sac fly by Poss. Final Alliance 15 Imperial 0
