• Halloween is arriving! This year we have added a party of ghosts around a fire to welcome our visitors. Be sure to bring the kids up to see all we have going on. We are finding that many adults just like to come in and enjoy the atmosphere here in the library, with is what I think is our biggest compliment. We are happy this facility is an extension of our patron’s living rooms, and are glad they feel welcome here. It makes all the decorating worthwhile.

Autumn in Alliance Coloring Contest entries are on display in the library with everyone invited to vote for their favorite in each age division. Cynthia also added a new Wiggleworm feature of Rainy Day Reads and is working on new displays and preparing materials for Book Mobile. Her ongoing projects include cataloging new items, final preparations for October programs and backpack maintenance. The new Bluey and Halloween backpacks are very popular!
• Adult Services Librarian Stephanie Hamilton notes that it has been a busy time for patrons at the library this past week and a fun filled month of September! This week concluded with a community event Sept. 25, an evening with Jacyln Wilson and her presentation, “Cattle, Conservation and Community. Jaclyn came to tell of her experiences from Lakeside’s Flying Diamond Cattle ranch sharing stories of her 5th generation ranch as well as methods in marketing, cattle management and land conservation. We are thrilled Jacylyn accepted our invitation to present and excited for continued quality programs in the future that you can look forward to. As the month of September comes to a close, we are concluding several Adult Services programs, including our Uber Reads Take out. Patrons have been choosing a takeout bag to check out and returning the attached receipt for entry in a drawing at the conclusion of the program. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate to Wonderful Kitchen. Each selection from the display has a recipe card to keep, unique to a food item referenced in the book. There is still time to get your Uber Reads entry in before Sept. 30, so be sure to come in and discover an Uber Read just right for you. We also have an upcoming drawing at here at the library, at the end of this month, for all patrons who registered for a library card in September. Those individuals will be included in a drawing for a prize from the APL Foundation with a $25 gift certificate to the bookstore! Steph also submitted website updates and new posts, maintained displays, shelf read, facilitated book club discussion, finalized arrangements for community speaker and performed tasks for future outreach activities.
