Cards Deal Bulldogs a 41 to 0 Loss

A 20 point third period by Chadron helped the hosts pull away from Alliance on Friday. Up 14 to 0 at half, the Cardinals scored three times in the 3rd quarter and defeated the Dogs 41 to 0 in a game played in Chadron. With the loss, Alliance falls to 3 and 4 on the year. Chadron goes to 6 and 1.

On Alliance’s first series, the Bulldogs got positive gains from backs Trini Trejo and Caysen Robertson but were forced to punt. Chadron got the ball at the 14 and would take just 5 plays to get on the board. A 48 yard TD scamper at the 6:28 mark made it 6 to 0. Nice gains by Trejo on the Bulldog’s ensuing possession gave Alliance hope. But a penalty on AHS stopped the drive and the Dogs had to punt. Alliance’s defense was solid on the following series by the hosts. A 9 yard sack by Nason Thompson forced a Cardinal punt and the period ended with the Dogs down by 6.

Period #2 had both team’s defense controlling the action. Tackles by Robertson and Jett Childers for losses kept the Dog deficit at 6. An interception by the hosts gave Chadron great field position but Alliance’s Lucas Weber would block a Chadron field goad attempt in the closing minutes of the half. An Alliance turnover gave the Cards one more chance. With 6 seconds in the half, Chadron scored on a 15 yard TD pass. The Cards took a 14 to 0 to halftime.

Chadron scored again on their first try. Alliance got get some defensive plays by Robertson and Remi Turman but a draw play by the Cardinals netted 44 yards. The possession ended with an 18 yard TD pass with 9:38 showing on the clock. The point after kick was good as the hosts went up 21 to 0. Another Bulldog three and out series was next. Starting on the 35, Chadron extended its margin with a 14 yard TD run. The extra point kick was true which made it a 28 to 0 ball game. An another Alliance turnover on their next attempt put the ball inside the Bulldog 11. A 10 yard TD carry by Chadron increased their advantage to 34 to 0 with 6:09 showing on the clock. Nice gains by Robertson, Trejo, and Jacoby Bauer finished the period with AHS down by 34.

In the fourth, the Alliance defense answered the call with plays by Thompson, Robertson, and Ethan Schulze. Unfortunately, the Card defense was strong as well. A Chadron pick at midfield stopped an Alliance drive. At the 5:49 mark, a Cardinal score from the one yard line. The point after kick was good, making it 41 to 0. Alliance would have one more try but was forced to punt. Final Chadron 41 Alliance 0
